It is very fair imo and should help the value of the right domains. Consumers shouldn't fall foul to domains and websites with a misleading message.

Yes, think of all the firms with dodgy names that are going to have to find a new, catchy, memorable identity :)

Personally I think it's is a great idea but they won't enforce it, the only organisation that web owners are scared of is Google, unless of course Nom co-operate and shut down sites on request from the OFT.

Good news for consumers if it's enforced.

An OFT document (http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/consultations/OFT1378con.pdf) from last year directly mentions domain suffixes so is worth a read (section 3.7).
