Interesting article in the Guardian yesterday:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2012/sep/02/grant-shapps-google-howtocorp-adsense

Grant Shapps, the Conservative housing minister tipped for promotion to the cabinet this week, founded a family business selling software that increases a website's advertising revenue by breaching Google's code of practice.

The $497 (£313) software package, TrafficPaymaster, creates web pages by "spinning and scraping" content from other sites to attract advertising from Google.

Millions of people who have blogs or websites are paid for hosting ads on Google's behalf using the AdSense service, which scans a web page and posts adverts related to the content. TrafficPaymaster creates an instant cashflow by appearing to plagiarise information.

Can't fault him to be honest, I think if people in the Guardian are holding Google's policies as some sort of bench mark for morality then they need their head examining. Google sold advertising of over a couple of billion pounds in the UK last year and paid £3m in UK tax.

Mind you our Labour MP was jailed for being on the fiddle so someone who rips off Google and not the tax payer is a step up in my narrow view of MP's.

I agree with you about Google - they are a profit maximising company and their policies are chosen to maximise their profits not as some sort of morality.

However, look at the website itself: trafficpaymaster.com. It's a classic Warrior Forum type of get rich quick scam. The site basically says buy our software and use it and you'll become extremely wealthy really quickly. The software supposedly only takes 7 minutes to set up then you'll get lots and lots of visitors to your website that you can profit from without any more work and you don't need to understand anything.

Still going on:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2012/oct/08/grant-shapps-how-to-corp-michael-green

Since last week a slew of websites have disappeared, removing all traces of Michael Green's offer to make $20,000 (£12,500) in 20 days "or your money back" and details of phone lines offering expert internet marketing advice for $297 an hour.
