This has got to be Google at its craziest

"payday loans"

1) Hourofthetime.com

When you click though you see they are Selling pipes and buckets

Quite funny sometimes.... They are still the best for non commercial technical terms but if you want to buy stuff I tend to use Bing now.

There have been a lot of sites getting hacked on Google by people in the pay day loan business for the last several months. It must work for them somehow.

Something like that happened to this chap:

This one's third on Google.com for those keywords now:

http://www.fuelcells.org/

Again; a 'compromised' warning.

I'm getting ////appliancemagazine////com as top for it now....

Matt Cutts should get off his blog and start doing some work because he is being made to look a joke. If you put your face up for fame then you are going to get ridicule when it goes wrong.

As I said in a blog post (http://www.that.co.uk/that-blog/matt-cutts-back-again.html), that position should be held by some geek in a back room not someone who seeks the publicity.

He wants seo to be natural, so why is he telling people what will and will not rank. The effing word "natural" means that nothing artificial needs to be done. The only friggin people you are helping by doing blogs post are the God dam people you are trying to stamp out.

I bang my head against a wall sometimes with these people... It's like you get to a certain level of education and you start to lose common sense.

Google seem to be getting more on top of it now. How? well they say they are listening more to spam reports and will whip sites down that are obviously part of this.

Google webspam add on for chrome is good, would imagine there is one for firefox too. It appears these sites are disappearing after 2 or 3 days.

2 or 3 days is still far too long, a multimillion £ company should have staff working constantly monitoring these reports

It seems to be out of control now in Google, they have moved into life insurance, mobile phones, other loans....

Google is in big big trouble now with these hackers. Some now have the top 14 listings as 2 week old hacked sites.

How many of these "attacked sites" are built on HTML?

Seems to me that WP sites are vulnerable and easier to hack.

That is my understanding too mate, all are coming from wp sites.

As daft as it sounds, Google could get rid of the whole problem with an alert button. I'd report it, they'd check it over and can manually ban it. In under 10 minutes they have solved it. If these sites were getting banned in 10 minutes, these people would stop doing it.

Google over complication the problem...
