Matt Cutts, the head of search spam at Google, said "you don’t want the next Penguin update." He warned that the Google "engineers have been working hard," on this update.

He even added the next few updates will be "jarring and jolting" for webmasters and SEOs.

We heard about this this morning from Rob P,

It blends in to something we started putting in place last week so I did a blog post on it today http://www.that.co.uk/that-blog/matt-cutts-back-again.html

We are doing our adverts next week and telling people they can't find us in Google. If we are doing that then other businesses won't be too far behind us.

I see Apple is removing Google searches from the iphone 5 too.

Interesting experiment Graeme - let us know how it goes.

In competitive niches, I'm not sure "natural SEO" works - you need to be a bit more aggressive to rank.

I only ever try to rank exact match terms mate so to be honest I wouldn't have an educated view beyond that, I'd genuinely be guessing after that. I'm pretty sure you are right though in that natural seo for competitive terms is equal to peeing in the wind.
